Discount Calculator

Final price, savings, discount % and original price in seconds

What Is a Discount Calculator?

A Discount Calculator tells you how much you save and what you finally pay when a shop gives you a percentage off. You enter the original price and the discount, and it shows the discount amount and the final price instantly. This tool goes further than a basic calculator. It can add a second (extra) discount, add tax or GST, handle many items at once, find the discount percentage from two prices, and even work backwards to find the original price before the sale.

How to Use the Tool

1. Price after discount: enter the original price and the discount %. Add an extra discount, tax or quantity if you need them. The result updates as you type.
2. Find discount %: enter the original price and the sale price. The tool shows the percentage you are saving.
3. Find original price: enter the sale price you paid and the discount %. The tool shows what the price was before the sale.

Tip: tap a quick percentage button (5%, 10%, 25% and so on) to fill the discount field in one tap. Use the Currency list to change the symbol.

Discount Formulas

Discount amount = Original price x Discount % / 100
Final price = Original price – Discount amount
Discount % = (Original – Sale) / Original x 100
Original price = Sale price / (1 – Discount % / 100)
Price with tax = Price after discount x (1 + Tax % / 100)

Worked Examples

Simple discount: a Rs. 2,000 item with 25% off. Discount = 500. You pay 1,500.
Two discounts: Rs. 1,000 with 20% off, then 10% extra. After the first: 800. After the second: 720. You save 280, which is 28% (not 30%).
With GST: Rs. 1,500 after discount plus 18% GST. Tax = 270. You pay 1,770.
Find discount %: original Rs. 1,500, sale Rs. 1,125. You save 375, which is 25%.
Find original price: you paid Rs. 800 after 20% off. Original = 800 / 0.80 = Rs. 1,000.

Important to Know

Two discounts do not add up. 20% off followed by 10% off is not 30% off. The second discount applies to the already reduced price, so the real total is 28%. Use the Extra discount field to calculate this correctly.

FAQ

How do I calculate a discount?

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage and divide by 100. Subtract that amount from the original price to get the final price.

How do I calculate 20% off?

Multiply the price by 0.20 to get the discount, then subtract it. A quicker way is to multiply the price by 0.80 to get the final price directly.

How do I find the discount percentage?

Subtract the sale price from the original price, divide the result by the original price, and multiply by 100. Our Find discount % tab does this for you.

How can I find the original price before the discount?

Divide the sale price by 1 minus the discount rate. For a 20% discount, divide by 0.80. Use the Find original price tab.

Is 20% plus 10% the same as 30% off?

No. The second discount works on the reduced price, so 20% then 10% equals 28% in total.

Is tax added before or after the discount?

In most shops tax or GST is added after the discount, on the reduced price. This tool follows the same order.

Can I use it for more than one item?

Yes. Enter the price of one item and the quantity. The tool shows the total and the price per item.

Is my data saved or shared?

No. Everything is calculated inside your browser and nothing is sent to any server.

Can the discount be more than 100%?

No. A discount of 100% means the item is free, and anything above is not possible, so the tool shows a message.
